The STANAG 6001 speaking exam level 3 TASK TWO, or the so called discussion, can mean discussing various topics ad hoc.
One of the subjects listed in the exam description is SHOPPING. This topic can involve different subject areas.
To see what the scope of the subject might be, have a look at the following questions:
1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of traditional main street shopping?
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of shopping online?
3. Is shopping a pleasure or a must for you?
4. What kind of shopping do you do online and traditionally?
5. What concerns do you have when buying online?
This topic can also be connected with talking about MONEY, payment methods, banking and online banking. But this is a subject for another post.

TASK 2 PART A

SECURITY

  1. SECURITY OF PAYMENT - payment online runs the risk of bank accounts being hacked
  2. SECURITY OF PERSONAL DATA

  • entering one’s data in a database which can then be sold may cause the influx of unwanted advertisements

HONESTY

  1. HONEST DESCRIPTION OF A PRODUCT OR SERVICE - description can be inaccurate which may cause disappointment of the buyer or inconvenience related to the necessity to return the product
  2. AVAILABILITY OF PRODUCTS OR SERVICES ON SALE - products might not be available right away but must be ordered by the seller, which extends the time of transaction

TASK 2 PART B

Part B of TASK 2 consists in questions which are asked by the examiners. They are not written on the card received by the candidates. The candidates only receive the card containing a PART A question (see above).
Here are some possible Part B questions:
1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of supermarkets?
2. Banning retail trade on Sundays was a mistake. Do you agree?
3. Sales and promotions are just a dishonest way to encourage people to buy more. Do you agree?
As you can see, the questions are related to PART A, but may concern other aspects of shopping, buying, paying, trade, etc.
The arguments come from my book SPEAKING AND WRITING EXPERT. LEVEL 3. in which you will find more examples of discussion topics with possible arguments as well as tasks, explanations, examples, and practical tips.
If you have ideas for additional arguments related to this subject or would like to discuss any of the above, feel free to leave a comment below (at the bottom of the page) OR WRITE TO ME AT: info@stanagexpert.com
